The Executive Branch

The Executive Branch is tasked with enforcing the laws of the Federated States of Gapla and guiding the nation’s direction and future development.

This branch comprises nine members: the President of Gapla, the Deputy President of Gapla, the governors of Gapla’s two states (Gaplastovia and Cristus), and the mayors of Gapla’s five municipalities (New Gaplastovia, Cristaria, Elemental, Emeralkia, and Folia Tail). Following the dissolution of the Provisional Government, these members will be elected through ranked-choice voting by all citizens 16 years of age or older.

Prior to the suspension of the Provisional Charter, the President and Deputy President of Gapla are elected by the Provisional Government. Mayors and governors are appointed by the President of Gapla, subject to the Provisional Government’s approval.

Chelsea Ashley Chen

A distinguished leader and skilled diplomat, President Chen was unanimously elected as the President of Gapla by the Provisional Government on 30 January 2024, officially assuming office the following day.

President Chen’s political journey began in 2019 when she was elected as the mayor of the municipality of Elemental. Her career has been marked by significant contributions to Gapla, including her roles as ambassador to several nations and international organizations, and serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prior to her presidency, she served as the Deputy President of Gapla under Presidents Wyatt Baek and Emma Bunnell.

President Chen currently attends the Sage Hill School, one of the top private high schools in California. Her personal achievements include playing the violin for prestigious ensembles and venues such as the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, Manhattan’s famed Carnegie Hall, and the Royal Concert Hall in Amsterdam.

Amalia Battle Cordova

10th Deputy President of Gapla

A notable entrepreneur, public relations manager, and politician, Deputy President Battle Cordova assumed the office of Deputy President of Gapla after Kohlhagen’s resignation on 1 February 2025.

Deputy President Battle Cordova’s political journey with Gapla began in 2024 when she became a member of the Provisional Government and the Minister of Public Relations. Since then, she has contributed significantly to the growth of Gapla, creating an active social media and press presence and improving citizen engagement efforts.

Deputy President Battle Cordova currently attends Stanford University Online High School, an online high school within Stanford University one of the top private high schools in the United States. Her personal achievements include successfully securing $80,000 in funding for a startup, designing pitches and products for artificial intelligence and virtual reality businesses, and having her ideas showcased at the World Economic Forum.

Citizenship

Citizenship in Gapla is free and is the initial step in joining our community. As a citizen, you can start a business, engage with fellow citizens, and are eligible to apply for the Provisional Government.

Nationbuilding

Joining the Provisional Government makes you one of Gapla’s visionaries. As a member of the Provisional Government, you’ll be involved in building and planning Gapla, including communicating with the press.

Settlement

While we aren’t at settlement yet, Gapla is currently offering opportunities for physical contributions, including land surveying, tourism, and camping. These opportunities are limited and available by request.
